I love blockbuster entertainment franchises. Who doesn't? But I really love multi-media blockbuster franchises. And I really, really love multimedia kids' blockbuster franchises. PR from Fandango:
If you’re looking for news regarding the success of HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE on the big screen, here are some fast facts from Fandango, the nation’s largest movie ticketing service:
- We have been selling an average of 5 POTTER tickets per second
- GOBLET OF FIRE now ranks as our #2 biggest seller in terms of advance ticket sales (see Top 5 list below)
- GOBLET accounts for 94% of all weekly ticket sales (as of 7:00 am PT, 11/18/05)
- Nearly 80% of advance tickets sold on Fandango to date have been for the first day’s shows (indicating high demand from an audience that simply “can’t wait” to see the movie)
- We have reports that several hundred Thursday midnight shows were sold out.
Here are the Top 5 advance ticket-sellers during Fandango’s five-year history:
STAR WARS: EPISODE III – REVENGE OF THE SITH
HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE
LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RETURN OF THE KING
THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST
HARRY POTTER AND THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN
We expect our next major ticket-seller to be THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA
Where's the Internet play? Scholastic's Harry Potter site feels more sustainable than Warner Bros.'s. But neither does the trick.
