Six associations including the Email Sender and Provider Coalition, the American Advertising Federation, the American Association of Advertising Agencies, the Association of National Advertisers Inc., the Electronic Frontier Foundation and the Center for Democracy & Technology filed an amici curiae brief against the Utah Child Protection Registry Act. As mentioned in previous posts, we anticipated these registries would be challenged in the courts. While this amicus brief is not technically a legal challenge, it does bring this matter to the attention of the court and arms the court with the necessary information on why the registry is flawed.

Unfortunately these associations are going to need to remain vigilant on this matter, as the Unspam registry begins chasing additional states.
