Broadband Will Impact House Prices<< Metered Low Tier Broadband Arrives in UK | Main | Removing Barriers to Broadband >> Ian Fogg | March 24, 2004, 05:43 PM Well, I haven't seen estate agents in the UK (real estate in US) list broadband availability on property details yet, as seen in the US, but I'm sure it will come. Broadband will be the main access method in European homes in the next few years, living without will be anathema to those accustomed to high speed access. Greater broadband availability won't remove blackspots. Around 3 percent of UK homes that are located in an area with a DSL-enabled exchange (85 percent) can't get broadband due to line length or other line condition failings. Even in five years time there will be coverage holes. Equally, some areas will only be able to recieve low broadband speeds, and not the new high broadband speed services that are arriving. |
