I had a really good call yesterday with Buzz Brugemman. Buzz runs a software company in Florida called ActiveWords that makes a product of the same name. First off, Buzz should think about starting a side business teaching entrepreneurs how to present their products. The presentation was lively, energetic and this is a man who clearly has passion for his product. AvtiveWords is a very impressive product, that unfortunately for the company really has to be seen and worked with to be appreciated. To quote the company “ActiveWords is patented technology that adds a simple and powerful attribute to your user interface, it turns words into actions.” Yep, that’s what it does. Type something anywhere and your PC responds. Whether it’s a macro, autocorrect, launching a website or looking up a contact, it just happens… and happens fast. I’m not going to do a full review of the product but you should definitely check out the site and download the trial version. I suspect that a lot of users that try it get converted very quickly.

The problem with this software category is that it’s not app in the sense that most people think of when they talk about apps. It’s an app that makes the other apps and the OS you have better and often products that fall into that space just don’t sell very well. I hear that lots of folks at MSFT use this product, someone over there needs to show it to the folks working on the next rev of Outlook. This technology needs to be integrated into that product IMHO.
