JoeWilcoxand I are meeting with some folks from Microsoft next week at LinuxWorld. This should be most interesting. It’s hard to imagine just a few years ago Microsoft taking any interest in what might be happening at an event like LinuxWorld. I’m expecting a pretty big presence from the folks at Redmond. It’s a tricky balance for them; pay too much attention and everyone start to wonder why. Pay too little attention and you risk missing something small today that could have larger implications down the road. Navigating the Linux waters is moving between very narrow straits for Microsoft. Linux remains a more of movement than the traditional opponents that Microsoft has faced through the years. How do you fight ghosts and phantoms with no name or face?
