It's not black and white. >> Michael Gartenberg | August 31, 2004, 05:47 AM I loved the Luxo inspired flat panel iMac but the new machine blew me away. Apple has really done it again. Forget for a moment that it's a value priced G5 with great performance and specs. What an amazing design. When I first saw it, I smiled and then I smiled again. It's an original design and yet serves as a reminder that these folks also brought you the iPod. It's VESA compliant so you can stick it on a wall, add a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard and an Airport express to your stereo and you have an amazing and beautiful computing experience. What's missing? Well, 256mb of RAM is chintzy, if you buy one, take it to 512mb at least right away. And of course, there's still no DVR functionality or 10 foot UI from Apple... at least not yet :) A reminder that no one does industrial design like the design wizards in Cupertino. |
