iTunes Phones are not going to replace iPods anytime soon<< Is Mac Mini "the computer for the rest of us?" | Main | Comparing iPod to Shuffle to other flash players >> Michael Gartenberg | January 11, 2005, 03:53 PM Well, I guess if you want AAC songs on your phone instead of an iPod, the new Motorola phone is for you. It will sell OK but is not a threat in the least to any member of the iPod line, especially the shuffle. If there's any chance that Apple thought the masses would prefer this phone to a dedicated music device, this deal would have not seen the light of day. Note, you cannot use the iTunes songs as ringtones, this is living in a totally different sandbox. Helps the iTunes economy but isn't nearly as important strategically to Apple. |
