Get the story straight... Napster's DRM has NOT been broken<< Treo 650 GSM First Thoughts | Main | why does Bill Clinton get to sit next to Angelina Jolie? >> Michael Gartenberg | February 16, 2005, 11:02 AM Geez, this just get sillier and sillier. I've already gotten calls on this so let's be clear. No one broke the Janus DRM that Microsoft developed and that Napster is using. Capturing the music stream is no big deal and as I mentioned far easier ways of doing this. I doubt that anyone's buzzing over this in the music industry (and I doubt there was any authentic Jobs memo on the subject), or anywhere except perhaps some folks looking to make sensationalist headlines. Of course this illustrates one of the biggest downsides of the web (and blogging in particular) that all things from all sources are treated as fact and treated equally and get passed around fast. This wasn't a story yesterday and it's less of one today.
