Scoble to Curry... "your show sucks"<< You say tomato, I say WebFeeds | Main | Is Google Co-Opting Microsoft? >> Michael Gartenberg | August 12, 2005, 07:57 AM Speaking of Scoble and Podcasts, Robert has some comments about the Adam Curry podcasting show on Sirius. But, Adam, I really have to call you on something. I bought a Sirius radio specifically to listen to your show. After six weeks of listening I gotta say your show sucks. I'm not listening anymore. Here's why: you're competing with Bloomberg and all the other channels. They have better content. Hear me out. Your show on Sirius rarely has you on. In fact, I keep hoping to hear the Adam Curry show. Instead you just have random podcasters on. That's not what I want. I want to hear Adam Curry. I want to hear YOU tell me what's cool and happening NOW on the podcastosphere. Instead I'm bored to tears. MSN Filter is more interesting and that's saying something. I thought this was going to be pretty lame when I first heard about it and it seems I was correct. (I'm an XM guy myself so I've only heard the show once on a friends unit. I thought it was pretty bad but didn't want to comment based on the one show I heard). It's a nice gig for Adam but I can't see how it lasts. One thing I noticed as I was cleaning up my podcast feeds and my blog feeds last night is that most of my blog feeds come from non-traditional sources. Yes, there are a few feeds from commercial sites but most of them come from individuals. Not so with the podcasts. Almost all of the podcasts I subscribe to are from media outlets, which isn't surprising if you look at what that top ten podcasts are in iTiunes. When I subscribe to a feed, either audio or text I expect to entertained or informed. Ideally both. Audio is just too hard a medium for most folks and they don't have access to the same material. I might listen to your podcast for example if you could interview the same folks Russert does (and do it as well as he does) but for now, it looks like I'll have to keep downloading Meet the Press. |
