iLife and RSS

I spent a little time over the weekend looking at iLife and how well the new RSS support works. I created a test blog in iLife as well as used the photocasting feature in iPhoto. Here's what I found. I had no problems using Safari (of course) or NetNewsWire with either. On the PC, I tried FeedDemon and had no problems with either the blog site of the photocast. When I tried using Newsgator, I found that it took the blog entires just fine but choked on the iLife photocast feed. Overall, it worked pretty well, especially on the blog side but it looks like the photocasting needs some work. This is not unique to Apple. There are a number of blogs that I cant' read anymore since they won't validate in Newsgator. I know the author's are frustrated since it's a hosted service and they have no idea what do to make it work.

This is one the things I feared about RSS in the past, fragmentation that makes it hard for users to see what they want and publishers who may not even realize their stuff isn't being read. It's time to get this fixed.
