So long Scott<< Product Placement | Main | Four Part Plan to Change Microsoft? >> Michael Gartenberg | April 25, 2006, 08:19 AM With the departure of Scott McNealy at Sun, the real question is will Jonathon Schwartz deliver us gems like these? There were a lot of problems at Sun for a long time, and it will be interesting to see how Mr. Schwartz approaches them. For too long a time, McNealy seemed more focused on his standup routine on Gates and Microsoft as opposed to looking at the changes in the marketplace and how Sun could really compete. There were some interesting moments, when Sun almost bought Apple but a lot of stuff just never materialized for these folks. I'd like to hear what Sun thinks the future is for things like Java and are they still going to spend time and effort on things like Java dekstop (which is Linux based) or Star Office or any of the other distractions that the company wasted time with over the years. |
