Palm unveiled a new Treo today, answering the call of users who wanted the new features in the 700 series but who also wanted Palm OS. The new devices will come from both Verizon and Sprint and will support their high speed networks. That's probably the biggest news for these devices. Palm has done an amazing job of optimizing good old Palm OS for use on a high speed network. Web pages snap down quickly and streaming media content works for the first time. Best of all, Palm was able to work with both carriers to get dial up networking as a supported option. No more hacks required. This is a great idea and allows users to get some excellent value out of the device without having to buy a separate EV-DO card. Plugging the Treo into the USB port gives blazing fast speeds (and recharges the Treo) and Bluetooth is also supported. Overall, a nice evolution to a great product set. If you're a Palm OS user waiting for a device to support the latest and greatest networks, these are the devices for you.
