David Card and Mark Mulligan have already weighed in but it's still worth a few comments. First, I'm not sure what the fuss is about having songs purchased from the iTunes music store play on other devices. Let's face it, if you're buying a song from Apple, isn't it likely you own an iPod (or a Moto phone with iTunes)? Is there a mass outbreak of Creative Zen owners buying songs by mistake from Apple? Second, no one needs to buy a single song from Apple to use with an iPod. If you don't like DRM, buy your CDs and transfer. Finally, where do we draw the line? Will every game I buy for my Xbox 360 need to be playable on a PS3? If not, why not?

Update - my friend Raz Haramati suggests an even better comaprison, forcing Schick razors to use Gillette blades.
