Wii Delivers<< Begun these console wars have | Main | Politics and PS3 >> Michael Gartenberg | November 16, 2006, 10:34 AM I like video games and I've been fortunate enough to have had the chance to play all the new consoles with all the new features enabled. I'll talk more about all of them over the next few days but the Wii really stands out. I've written about my experience before but having put the final version through its paces over the last few days has brought back a lot of what I like about vide games, it's really fun. More interesting has been the shared family experience. From creating and tuning little Mii versions of everyone here to playing against each other, the whole experience is different from past consoles. Favorite title at the moment is Wii sports which has a wonderful learning curve. It's very easy to pick up but there's a lot to master with the remote. What's interesting is that even though it's only hooked up via a lowly composite input (at 480i) as opposed to it's hi-def colleagues connected via HDMI and component, I haven't noticed what should be a REALLY big difference in graphics when playing. I suspect it has to do with a very strong immesion factor that gets you very deep into the gameplay itself. Bottom line? Console pricee - $249 |
