What with the Zune launch (some details on the out of box experience shortly) and the coming of the PS3 and the Wii, it's understandable if you missed the launch of the new X60 Tablet from the folks at Lenovo.

I've been putting one through it's paces for the last few weeks and I can safely say Lenovo nailed it again. It's a no compromise notebook that becomes a no compromise tablet with a flip of the screen. Their prior version, the X41 set the standard for what a Tablet PC should be and the X60 takes it to the next level. While the screen is still 12" (which is really a perfect size for a Tablet) it's now SXGA (and an option for a new XGA screen that's also touch enabled and can be used outdoors.) Unlike most new systems, it has both PC Card and Express Card support which makes life a lot easier. Like the non-Tablet X60, there's 3G options and also includes Bluetooth as well as 802.11n MIMO. Battery life is improves above the already excellent X41 and not gets up to 7.5 hours. One cool new feature allows the Tablet to sense how it's being held and automatically adjust the orientation to match. If you're looking for a no compromise system with tablet functionality, this is one machine to closely look at.

Next step is to install the final Vista bits and see how well Vista works with first class hardware.
