Just came back tonight's blogging meetup in NY. Thanks to Dave Winer for putting it all together and serving as an excellent moderator. Some familiar faces (I think this is the first time Steven Levy and I have met in NY, we usually see each other in SF, SeaTac or Vegas) and some new folks that I had a chance to meet. The discussion was interesting, less tech centric and more focused on things like patents and stock option backdating. There really aren't a lot of events like this on the East Coast. Sure there are vendor sponsored events in bars with good music and food but that's not what I'm talking about. I'm not really interested in seeing for being seen. I'm far more interested in a room with smart people discussing and debating topics of interest. That's what tonight's event was and I'm glad I went.
