Well, once again the rumor mills were both absolutely correct and totally wrong. As late as yesterday, folks were still arguing about whether a phone would be introduced or not. But just predicting a phone is meaningless, the power of this device is in the details of form and function

There were some pretty big announcements made today. It's a little crazy here so expect detailed posts in a bit.

First the impact of the two big items. Both Apple TV and the iPhone are important devices as they cement Apple's role within different places of the digital home. Note that the phone is not a replacement for the iPod but makes sense in the overall scheme of devices and how they integrate with the rest of what Apple is doing.

The big news was clearly the iPhone and what a great looking device it is both in terms of form and function. It totally defines carresability. Lets's face it, this is the most anticipated telephone since Alexander Graham Bell's original.

What's intresting is that a lot of features in Apple's phone already exist in many Windows Mobile and Series 60 based devices. Although the glitz and polish on the iPhone is unmtached for now.

It stlll amazes me that MSFT has not been able to get out the message of just how good their devices are. Be interesting to see how they respond along with plam, moto and nokia.
