RIP InfoWorld?<< Is Leopard Delayed? Nope, not according to Apple | Main | My Dad's World >> Michael Gartenberg | March 26, 2007, 04:19 PM There's been a lot of discussion about the death of InfoWorld. As my colleague David Card notes, that's not quite true but they are going web only. It is a milestone, but not because trade publications are dead, as some are saying. It's more how they are evolving as times change. I can recall reading InfoWorld in grad school and later it was an essential part of my week (along with PC Week Computerworld and MacWeek among others). Back then, weekly news was as good as it got. Today, it's news that flows to me as often as I want. No doubt, other trade pubs will continue to deliver content in print but none of them will exists without an online component. There's still a lot of value that these places can provide even as they evolve and keep pace. |
