It's pretty easy to make fun of this one after all, the fact that invesetment bankers and the like can't get to their email wirelessly hardly seems that big of a deal. And despite the hysteria which CNBC is reporting this (after all, they never get to report on blizzards, disasters or Anna Nicole) with field reports from around the world, there is something to this story.

It's about what happens when you get dependent on technology that at the core, you don't have control over. Lots of folks going to be taking a closer look at that RIM infrastructure and seeing if there's a better way. Also going to be interesting to see how RIM handles this. Their response over the next few hours is going to hugely impact how they will be able to go forward. Big opportunity here for anyone in the competitive space to exploit and no doubt, they will.
