One More Think to Hook Up to My TV

NY Times reports on Vudu, a new STB coming to market that will let you download movies. Uh, does this refrain sound familiar to anyone else out there? Good news is they seem to have content. Bad news, won't work on your PC or any other portable device like the iPod. Price point for $300 doesn't fit into any consumer sweet spots and is likely to be balked at by most folks. Rental model is a good idea (it's clearly a proven model) but will face some stiff competition from already entrenched players like Apple and Microsoft. The market here is just getting a little too crowded and there are only so many boxes most consumers will hook up to their TVs. Given the market timing and if this all the box can do, I don't see how this can be a winner in the long run.
