Dealing With Windows under Parallels<< Apple Goes Green(er) | Main | Quote of the Day >> Michael Gartenberg | May 02, 2007, 03:06 PM Dave Winer is dealing with some issues using Parallels on his Mac. I have had some of the same issues from time to time (every so often, Windows will blue screen and that will affect most of the apps installed like Office). I haven't figured out the issue just yet (re-booting Windows often triggers it) but I have found the easiest way to deal with the issue is to set up a virtual disk with Windows, Office and a few other apps I use regularly and then make a backup of that file on the Mac. If there's an issue, I just delete the problem hard drive, make a duplicate of the backup and re-name it to the old drive name. Windows and Office are already installed and activated and I don't have to spend hours re-configuring or installing apps. Reduces the whole process to about five minutes or less. Works with Vista installs as well. |
