Interesting news from Microsoft today that IE 8 passes the Acid2 test. This is actually pretty important and underscores how important Redmond is taking the next round of browser wars going forward. What they will also need is some really good messaging why end users will want to upgrade their browsers in 2008. It's also going to be important for Redmond to reminds folks just how convoluted Web standards really are. Which is more important to you? That you're browser be technically compliant with a standard or that it renders a page the way it did last year, last month or last week?

Joe Wilcox offers his take here. I think Joe's thinking a little too deeply here. Microsoft is starting the buzz early which is what they need to do. They're also starting with the right audience, web developers who know and or care about the Acid 2 test. Expect some really important browser issues to heat up in 08.
