QTRAX - color me skeptical

While I was out, there was news that Qtrax would be finally launching. Word was 25 million tracks, P2P searching, DRM protection and even full iPod compatibility making portability a reality. News today that things aren't what they appear. The labels are saying there's no deal and the site isn't active at the moment.

If things launches and works technically, I'd love it but call me a little skeptical for now. Especially on the iPod integration. We've seen folks try to do end runs around Fair Play before. While I don't think Apple would intentionally break anything, they certainly aren't going to work to make sure it keeps working with new firmware, new models and other updates.
