Lots of news out of Barcelona today, first Sony Ericsson gets on board the Windows Mobile platform with some new cool devices. Then we see Microsoft making MSN Direct, a Windows Mobile feature (nice, watches were cool, but phones even more ubiquitous and glance able these days) but the real excitement is the Microsoft is taking over Danger. Danger had come to market in early 02 with their hiptop device and platform that was optimized for communications and entertainment. It evolved into the T-Mobile SideKick and has had moderate success in the US markets appealing to celebrities, sports figures and of course all the demographics that look up to these folks. The SideKick had strong appeal as the anti-blackberry for younger audiences and it will be really interesting to see how MSFT integrates the technology, business model, and overall device cachet to a culture more at home to selling to enterprise CIOs than it is to selling rock stars...
