US online media trends in La Sorbonne<< Blurring Boundaries in the mobile world | Main | Illimythics by SFR >> Thomas Husson | November 07, 2007, 04:02 PM My colleague David Card will give a short private speech on US online media trends in La Sorbonne Paris University next Tuesday. In the US, online media and entertainment is a fast-growing business in its own right, as well as a powerful promotional vehicle for traditional media. It is just beginning to show signs of emerging as a viable distribution channel -- or possible substitute. How big a threat does this present? Or is it an opportunity? What is working, especially for traditional media companies, in online video and music, and what is not? How might the roles of existing online media powers -- Google, Yahoo!, AOL, MSN -- evolve? If you want to hear some answers to these complex questions, know more about the more mature US Internet market to anticipate what may come to Europe one day, or simply to know more about 21st century portals, UGC and social networking sites, you must attend.
