All Wired Up And No PlayStation To Go<< Idolizing AT&T Wireless | Main | Peeking Behind NAT >> Joseph Laszlo | April 22, 2003, 10:06 AM I got a network adapter [playstation.com] for my PS2 for Christmas last year, and, embarrassingly enough, failed to get around to buying the 25 feet of CAT-5 I'd need to plug it into my home network until just last weekend. I have to say, the set-up process was about as easy as it could possibly be; once the adapter was bolted onto the console, and everything was plugged in, the software asked a few very simple questions, and I was online. And now, I ask myself, what do I do with this awesome new ability? I'm awful at both Madden and Frequency, though I did hang out in the Newbie chatroom for Freq, which was...well, much like every other chatroom I've ever been in. Somewhat novel to be watching off-color discussions on the TV screen, rather than the monitor, I guess. I would've reamed Sony if they'd included a browser with the Network Adapter software (people do not want to surf the Web on TV!). But if they had, at least I'd have something to do with the PS2 online until I acquire Midnight Club 2 or EverQuest Online Adventures. |
