Apple Music: Another Analyst Heard From<< WildBlue Yonder | Main | Time Warner Cable Invents Invisible Caps >> Joseph Laszlo | April 29, 2003, 05:08 PM Like a number of my analyst colleagues, I ran home last night to download the new iTunes and take a spin through the Apple Music Store (See: David Card, and Mark Mulligan). Basically, I'm pretty happy with it. Haven't bought any music yet, but they make it very easy. Unexpectedly, there's at least some tracks from one Mediaeval Baebes album, though there are definitely many holes in the catalog. Hopefully those get filled over time. Some of the search stuff could be better, too, but generally it's pretty easy to tell what's in the store, and what's not. In the category "least unexpected outcome" to the Apple music service, Slashdot hosted an amusing flame war about "best codec" today. Everyone's grumpy. The codec jihad is never going to be settled amicably (or logically), making it a waste of time to read, but fun if you need a break at some point. If there's a geekier phrase in the world today than ogg vorbis, I don't know what it is. |
