Social Marketing is Here

I'm happy to announce that our new Social Marketing service is live. The reports will provide practical insights for a very impractical and unregulated aspect of the web, social media. As marketers attempt to navigate consumer created content, (in the form of MySpace, YouTube, blogs and podcasts to name a few,) they end up giving up a lot of their power over their brand message. But done right, the resulting dialogue between advertiser and consumer can be even more dynamic in a social media environment than through more traditional advertising channels. Our surveys show that over 40 percent of advertisers this year will attempt social marketing campaigns, many for the first time. So I feel that this is the perfect time to launch Social Marketing, at the point where many tactics are still in flux, and few standards still exist.
I'll act as the lead analyst but many other Jup analysts will be contributing to round out the service. Already included are reports about word-of-mouth, blogs, viral marketing, and publisher ad sales strategies. Look forward to my next report regarding branded microsites, which often play the role of the hub of a social marketing campaign. Of course, send me feedback about the service; I'd love to hear it.
