My article (free registration required) on the rising importance of "emotional intelligence" in marketing and media has just appeared in OMMA Magazine. My thesis is that the social media phenomenon puts a premium on the emotional intelligence competencies, especially the social competencies such as social skills and social awareness.

The concept of emotional intelligence was popularized by Daniel Goleman in his 1995 book "Emotional Intelligence." The paperback edition of his latest book, "Social Intelligence," was just issued last wek.
