Free Breeze<< What’s In Store at the Apple Store | Main | T68i, T226, Upgrades and GSM 850 >> Joe Wilcox | March 05, 2004, 01:39 PM Earlier this week, Macromedia offered a free month of Breeze to the first 500 people signing up for the promotion. (Offer is here.) Macromedia's Breeze freebee comes as competition heats up in the market for online collaboration and briefing software. Earlier this week, I participated as a presenter for an event a company chose to deliver using Microsoft's LiveMeeting. The software let three other offices participate in the presentation. In an ideal techno world, I could have stayed in the Washington, D.C. area and presented to all participants via the Web, rather than travel to San Francisco. WebEx is another of the recognized leaders in this market. Macromedia offers a broader array of options than some competitors. Rather than just focus on meetings in the moment, additionally, Macromedia built Breeze with static content in mind. The approach is ideal for e-learning operatings or allowing people to access meeting information when they have time. This could be particularly handy for online presentations that do not require "live" participant interaction. The Breeze server product requires Windows, but particpants can use Windows, Mac OS or Linux. |
