Hi-Tech Fourth Grader Fundraising<< Adobe, Bar None | Main | HP Keeping In Tune >> Joe Wilcox | March 10, 2004, 09:30 AM My daughter's school has been doing its yearly fund drive for the American Heart Association. The kids win prizes based on donations collected. This year, the kids were provided with a Web address where they could set up a personal Website for collecting donations. The day the fundraiser started, she raced home, plopped in front of the computer and set up her personal fundraiser Website. No parental involvement involved. I see this as anecdotal commentary on the impact of computing/Internet technologies on youth. My fourth grader is typical; no genius here. She hustled through e-mail to get donations and collected all donations through the Website, about $200 in all. |
