iPod mini for Mom? Maybe Next Year

In today's Mercury News, reporter Dawn Chmielewski looks at appropriate Mother's Day gifts (the holiday is this coming Sunday in the U.S.). High-tech gadgets rank highly on the list of Mom's wanna-haves, including Apple's popular iPod mini. Story is here.

I could definitely see why the iPod mini's diminutive size and pastel colors might appeal to some moms.

But, as Ms. Chmielewski notes, "you'll have to get in line and wait six weeks for delivery." My local Apple Store says four weeks. Either way, that doesn't make iPod mini a gift for some moms this year. My wife wanted the green one. She's getting a new bicycle instead, because we can't find an iPod mini.
